Conservation education is a very
broad term covering many topics. Imagine if your job were to teach conservation
education, the diversity in topics, audiences and approaches would be
staggering! An so begins the journey for the Seneca SWCD - broad,
staggering and diverse!
Since the education program has begun, we have shared
the conservation message and programs with over 4500 children and adults,
donated tree seedlings to every 5th grader in the county, and visited many of
the county libraries and schools. From 2 year olds to 80 year olds, all
ages have been educated in some aspect of conservation.
The
S.K.Worm program
is now available for presentations. This program
consists of a a six foot tall museum quality animatronics model of
teh NRCS mascot S.K.Worm coming out of a detailed soil monolith.
The S.K.Worm has been programmed to interact with the instructor.
The presentation reinforces the Ohio Department of Educations
benchmarks for Earth and Space science as they relate to soils in a
fun and informative way the students are sure to remember. Seneca SWCD • 3140 South State Route 100, Suite D • Tiffin, Ohio 44883 • Phone: (419) 447-7073 • Fax: (419) 447-0430
