SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Board of Supervisors has the responsibility of the role of leadership in developing and implementing all short and long term goals for the Soil and Water Conservation District.  Members of the Board are public officials responsible to the people of the District and the State.  They employ and guide the staff of the District on workload priorities, manage the District financial funds, and are a source of feedback from the public on its needs for land and water assistance.

With being a supervisor, you acquire several benefits such as representing local resource concerns, being a voice for the citizens of Seneca County, self satisfaction of providing your time to improve the environment, being actively involved with assistance and education programs for citizens, providing leadership in community resource conservation, and development of leadership skills.

The position of Supervisor is totally voluntary.  A Supervisor is dedicated to giving freely of his/her time to District business and seeing to the conservation and development of natural resources of Seneca County.  A Supervisor's term is for three years beginning January 1st of each year and can serve an unlimited amount of terms.  Associate Supervisors are volunteers who help the board and staff with soil and water programs and projects.  Supervisors must be at least 18 years of age and be a legal resident of Seneca County.  If you would like more information about running for Supervisor, please contact the office.
